Rangers’ streak snapped by Canadiens in 4-0 loss



In the cage for the Rangers was backup Martin Biron, who lost for the first time in four starts. The cager stopped 27 shots after entering the game with a 0.95 goals-against average, along with a .962 save percentage.

Erik Cole (6) recorded the first power play goal for the Habs at the 3:45 mark in the first period of play. Montreal captain Brian Gionta gave Montreal a 2-0 lead with a goal at 8:12.

The Canadiens added two more goals in the third period of play when Tomas Plekanec (5) tallied a power play goal with 7:05 on the scoreboard. Gionta (7) capped-off the victory with his second goal of the game at the 13:47 mark.

New York will have three days off until their next home game against the Florida Panthers on Wednesday. The game is scheduled to air on the MSG network, with face-off slated for 7:30 p.m.
