Avery rejoins the team filling the void for injured winger Mike Rupp, who has a knee injury that is making the Rangers officials concerned. The 31-year-old scored three goals and assisted on 21 for 24 points for the Blueshirts in 76 games last season.
Known for his hard-hitting and agitating style of play, the forward is scheduled to make his return to the Rangers roster on Thursday against the Anaheim Ducks.
